Honey’s Bistro and Bakery: My Favorite Brunch Spot in Encinitas

Welcome to Carley’s World Of Beauty. Find me on ig and Tiktok @carleybe. Honey’s review is below and thank you for stopping by! Let me know if you’ve been!

I could eat at a different brunch spot everyday of my life. I love to eat and I am starving when I wake up. For my Birthday my friend Brittany took me to Honey’s Bistro and it was insane.

They have shrimp Bloody Mary’s, amazing mimosas and so many other drinks (alcoholic and nonalcoholic). All the food was amazing. I’ve never had such amazing French toast at a restaurant.

Not to sweet and they were delicious. We were starving when we arrived and more than satisfied when we left. I will definitely be taking my boyfriend there and I cannot wait to go back. What’s your favorite brunch spot in San Diego?

Azuki Sushi. One of My Favorite Sushi Spots.

Down town San Diego has some of my favorite restaurants in the whole county. Sushi is one of my favorites and their are so many great places to go being right next to the water. A new favorite spot is Azuki sushi. This cute little spot down town has a beautiful cozy outdoor back patio, indoor seating, and a beautiful bistro style front seating area.

They have little cafe table set ups and it makes for some beautiful ambiance. We had garlic edamame and miso soup. Both delicious. As far as rolls go we had stardust and scorpion. Stardust was an albacore, gobo, avocado topped with yellowtail, lemon slices, garlic ponzu roll. Lemon and fish is my favorite and a little lemon slice with any type of sushi and I’m in. Adds that little acidic bite.

The Scorpion roll had tempura softshell crab, snow crab, avocado, cucumber, gobo wrapped in soy paper. If a roll has  Tempura soft shell crab in in it… i'm probably getting it. On top of the rolls we had blue fin tuna nigiri. Was melt in your mouth amazing. Could not be happier with all the food we had. I can’t wait to go back. If you’ve been let me know in the comments below.

Javier’s in La Jolla

Find me on Instagram and Tiktok  @carleybe

Stopped by Javier’s last night after trouble shooting some issues at the apple store. Javier’s is located in UTC and is a beautiful location. The ambience is amazing, the lighting is perfect, and the over all aesthetic is perfect for the beachy area it’s located in.

We ordered the queso fundido and empanadas to start. Fundido is a type of queso that is thicker and more stringy then a regular queso. It’s amazing but if you are looking for liquid gold this is not for you. I’ve always loved it but it’s not for everyone.

These shrimp empanadas are insaaaaannnneeeee. They are filled with shrimp and a cilantro jalapeño sauce. It’s 3 bites of delicious goodness and it is filling. Plate comes with 3. We just couldn’t wait to eat it before I grabbed a photo.

I ordered beef enchiladas and tacos. Great flavors and was over all so happy with this meal. Will be going back. Have you been? Let me know would love to hear about your experience.
Xoxo- Carley

Espresso Lab New Coffee Shop In San Diego

There is the cutest coffee shop by the beach in OB. The coffee shop is called the espresso lab and isn’t new but is new to me*. They offer breakfast and lunch items, along with Açaí  Bowls. The Coffee is smooth and tastes so freaking good. I get the Carmel latte, but they also have lavender and matcha along with a wide variety of other flavors.  I just moved to ocean beach so I’m so excited to have found this little gem. What’s your favorite coffee spot in San Diego? Let me know :).  XoXo - Carley

Dr. Dennis Gross Retinol Review

Today is all about my favorite retinol. Dr. Dennis Gross has the best retinol. I ordered this during the pandemic and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I apply this product at night and wake up with a beautiful glow. Retinols “reduce fine lines and wrinkles by increasing the production of collagen. They also stimulate the production of new blood vessels in the skin, which improves skin color. Additional benefits include fading age spots and softening rough patches of skin.”

I use this 2-3x a week and my skin has never been better. If you are looking for a retinol to try… this is worth the cost. You also use the least bit of product so It lasts for a few months.

Below is some information from Sephora. This retinol is my fave . Let me know if you’ve tried this in the comments below!

“What it is:  A gentle, daily texture-renewing serum powered by ingredients that promote clearer-looking skin and a visibly smooth texture and target the appearance of pores, oil, and fine lines.

Skin Type: Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily

Skincare Concerns: Pores, Uneven Texture, Blemishes

Formulation: Serum

Highlighted Ingredients:
- Retinol: A vitamin A derivative that supports collagen production to reverse visible signs of photoaging and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while caring for UV-induced free-radical damage; it also reduces the overproduction of blemish-causing sebum and visibly fades dark spots.
- Bakuchiol: This retinol-like botanical active demonstrates the same level of efficacy as retinol without redness or irritation, is proven to support the production of collagen, and diminishes the look of fine lines, wrinkles, and photodamage.
- Rambutan: This gentle, botanical active effectively targets fine lines and wrinkles while visibly supporting skin's elasticity.

Ingredient Callouts: This product is vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and comes in recyclable packaging.

What Else You Need to Know: This advanced retinol serum is gentle yet effective enough to visibly refine skin's bumpy texture, address first signs of aging, and target clogged pores and breakouts. The Phyto-Retinol Blend™, powered by retinol and soothing botanicals, provides benefits and results without irritation. An ideal serum for a first-time retinol user or someone looking to boost their daily regimen for a smoother, renewed complexion, this formula is safe for sensitive skin.

Clinical Results: In a 4-week clinical study conducted on 40 subjects with Fitzpatrick Skin Types I–VI:
- 100% saw smoother and less oily skin with no irritation in just 1 week

Dinner at Herb & Wood in San Diego

Happy Friday! Per the usual find me on ig @carleybe and Tiktok @carleybe and now what you’re really here for.

One of my Favorite Restaurants in San Diego is Herb & Wood. If you’re looking for a luxurious meal this is the spot. The food is decadent but light. I am delightfully full when leaving and the left overs are amazing.

We opted for the lobster and tuna. The lobster comes in an amazing sauce and so does the tuna. I could literally lick the plate it’s that good. Owner Brian Malarkey has put together an amazing menu. If you notice the name you’re probably a fan of Top Chef like myself Or you’ve been to one of his many restaurants here in San Diego. His second child Animae is also amazing… that review is coming. I’ve been twice and it’s heavenly.

For appetizers we had Bone Marrow, Hot Oysters, and Shrimp Toast. I love oysters but I never knew I could love a hot oyster just as much as a cold one. Covered in butter they melt in your mouth and so does the bone marrow. It’s the most decadent thing I’ve ever eaten and it’s all I want to eat. I love sea food growing up in San Diego and this does not disappoint.

The dessert is just as amazing and I ate most of it. If you’re looking to celebrate any special occasion, or are just looking for an amazing meal you need to check out Herb & Wood.
