Pet Safe Plants

Liven Up Your Home with Pet-Friendly Plants

Adding plants to your home is a great way to bring life and beauty to your space. But if you have furry friends, you need to be mindful of the plants you choose, as many common houseplants can be toxic to pets. Luckily, there are plenty of beautiful and interesting options that are safe for both you and your four-legged companions.

Here are a few of my favorite pet-friendly plants and you can find them in my shop linked here through TikTok shop CarleysPlants :

  • Calathea Roseopicta: This stunning plant boasts vibrant pink and green leaves, adding a pop of color to any room. It thrives in filtered light, making it a perfect choice for kitchens and bathrooms.

  • Spider Plant: A classic for a reason, spider plants are not only pet-safe but also known for their air-purifying qualities. They produce adorable spiderettes, which you can repot to create new plants.

  • Pilea Peperomioides (Pilea Plant): This unique plant has round, coin-shaped leaves that come in various shades. It's a low-maintenance option that prefers indirect light.

  • Peperomia: With a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, peperomia plants are sure to add visual interest to your home. They're low-maintenance and content with filtered or minimal bright light.

These are just a few examples, and there are many other pet-friendly plants available. Before bringing any new plant home, be sure to research it thoroughly to ensure it's safe for your pets.

Here are some additional tips for keeping your plants and pets happy:

  • Place plants out of reach of curious paws.
  • Provide your pets with plenty of their own toys and chew items to redirect their attention away from the plants.
  • If you're concerned about your pet ingesting a plant, consult with a veterinarian immediately.

With a little planning, you can create a beautiful and vibrant home that's safe for both you and your furry family.
